The Branding Process in 10 Steps

The branding process can seem daunting. One of my brand values is simplicity, so I aim to make the process of working with me as simple and transparent as possible, while guiding you every step of the way. Although each project and client’s needs are unique, here’s how a typical branding project with me looks; from enquiry right through to completion. It’s a process I’ve refined over many years and something important to keep in mind when comparing and choosing the right designer for you. Good things take time!

Working with me…

Step 1: Price Guide

Download the Creative Services Guide to learn more about my creative process, packages and pricing. From here, you can complete the online enquiry form, sharing as much information as possible so I can get a clear understanding of your project and goals.

Step 2: Free Chat

Once I receive your enquiry, I’ll be in touch to arrange a free clarity call to chat further. Here’s where we’ll make sure we’re on the same page and a good fit.

Step 3: Proposal

Now that I’ve gathered enough information I’ll be able to email you with a customised proposal and contract. If you’re happy with the way everything looks you can sign the contract and pay a deposit.

Step 4: Welcome Guide

And then we are on our way! I’ll send you a welcome guide with FAQs and housekeeping info to ensure we’re are both on the same page.

Step 5: Strategy Session

The first step in the branding process is to take a deep dive into your brand strategy. I have a comprehensive brand discovery questionnaire which will help us set the intentions for your brand, tell your story and clarify your messaging. We can complete this together over Zoom or you can work on it solo – whatever you prefer.

Step 6: Final Brief

Once completed you’ll be sent the final brief with all the information received to date, which I’ll get you to check and approve.

Step 7: Research

Next I’ll dive into research to ensure you are uniquely positioned in the market – this includes research into competitors, peers and aspirational brand leaders.

Step 8: Brand Board

Once I’m armed with research and the brand strategy, I’ll develop a brand strategy board (also known as a mood board) for your approval.

Step 9: Brand Presentation

After extensive conceptual development and experimentation I’ll prepare a brand presentation which will include one concept, brand colours, brand fonts and sample application. This presentation is supplied with a detailed written rationale and presentation document. Here you will have the opportunity for feedback and refinement and I’ll finalise the design deliverables.

Step 10: Final Files

A brand guidelines document will be provided which outlines the standards and specifications for correct application of your brand. A comprehensive suite of brand files will also be supplied at this time.

Still not sure? The needs of each business are unique and it’s OK if you’re not entirely sure what you need. Book a free clarity call and I can guide you through some options. I’d love to hear all about your business vision!
